Cub Scouts 101
What is Cub Scouts all about?
It is a safe place for children from Kindergarten to Fifth grade to explore new ideas and activities in their community and the world at large!
We do this through lots of different and fun ways-lessons, crafts, games, storytelling, songs, field trips and any other ways you can think of! Our main objective is for the scouts to have fun, learn and can't wait to come the next week!
What is a pack? What is a den?
A pack is a group of children in Boy Scouts of America that are from Kindergarten to Fifth grade.
A den is a subgroup of the pack. It is made up of scouts in the same grade. Each den is a different rank.

Tiger- 1st Garde
Wolf- 2nd Grade
Bear-3rd Grade
Webelos- 4th Grade
Arrow of Light- 5th Grade
What happens during a den or pack meeting?
In the beginning of any meeting we will all meet together in the Fellowship Hall to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, Scout Oath and Scout Law. We will make announcements and go over upcoming events on our scout calendar. Next we will start our pack or den meeting,
At the monthly pack meeting we stay together as a pack to hand out earned adventures and awards. We then play a game, create a craft, sing a song and have a snack. The Pack Meeting to acknowledge their achievements and have to fun together!
Most meetings will be a den meeting. This is where we break up into our dens and work through our adventures. A parent/guardian is required to stay with their scout if they are a Lion or Tiger. It is not required for the older dens, but it is greatly encouraged for you to stay, have fun, and help your scout at times.
Do the leaders have any training?
Absolutely! Each position has a training program that leaders complete for their specific role. We also have to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) every two years. This program teaches us how to conduct a meeting/event where everyone is safe and protected from any behaviors or actions where the scout can be abused or bullied. We take scout safety very seriously and are mandated reporters in any case of suspected abuse. All leaders have also have their Child Abuse and PATCH clearances checked,
How can I help the pack?
There are many different ways to use your talents to help the pack! And don't worry, we'll guide you along each step of the way.
Every den needs a den leader. They are the leader/teacher of each den. There is a guide for each rank, so you don't have to create each lesson from scratch. You guide the scouts through each adventure and once completed log it on the site we use called Scoutbook. You get to ensure that your scout has a great time and make some timeless memories with them.
Each Pack also has a committee that helps when needed with paperwork, contacting people/council, help out with Pack Meetings, etc. Whatever talent you have we can definitely use to help our scouting program be extraordinary!
We also have pack fundraisers throughout the year that helps raise money for our pack activities and registration. We ask that parents/guardians help when they can to make these fundraisers successful.
If you feel like you want to help but don't know how please talk to a leader and we can find a way to utilize your talents. We encourage all parents/guardians to help make their scout's experience the very best they can!
